Method

At home

  1. Blend the dates with a little warm water into a paste. · 5 min
  2. Knead all the ingredients into a very firm, sticky mixture. · 8 min
  3. Press into bar moulds or spread out 1–1.2 cm thick on a mat. · 7 min

Dehydrate

  1. Dehydrate at 57 °C; release from the moulds after a few hours and turn. · 480 min
  2. Dry until the bars are dry on the outside and only slightly pliable inside. · 120 min

On the trail

  1. Eat straight from the vacuum bag.

At home: Press the bars firmly and shape them no thicker than about 1.2 cm.

On the trail: Eat straight away; carry as cool as possible because of the fat content.

Storage: Vacuum-seal individually and freeze until the trip. Not intended for months of storage in the warmth.
